Turkish spring

Turkey at the beginning of the season caresses the eye and does not burn the body, rarely is it as comfortable as in late April and may. I come here for the third time at this time and have already become a “sympathizer” of the Turkish spring holiday and an active lobbyist of such pastime in the circle of friends For the early start of the season, in addition to the lack of heat, convincingly agitate the prices of tours, in April-may they are much lower than in summer. In April in Antalya you can already sunbathe. The day is hot, you need t-shirts and shorts and already need to use sunscreen. But in the morning and in the evening you still need a light windbreaker or sweaters for walks by the sea. The hotel is gradually introducing the entire animation program. The composition of tourists is mixed – partly it is lovers of a quiet family holiday and German pensioners, but also young people arrive. In the summer it will completely displace the others, but for now these two worlds divide the territory of the hotel by hours and zones. Swim in the first days I did not risk. But there were enough swimmers. A young woman from Naberezhnye Chelny, whom we met on the tour, walked in the morning from the sea in a wet swimsuit. I asked out of politeness: – What, you can already swim? She answered in a cautionary tone, like a child: – you can Swim all the time. In the old town, an updated range of Souvenirs and sweets is waiting for new tourists. If you plan to go further along the coast, the planned shopping is better to spend it in Antalya. Prices in the city roughly correspond to Kemer or Bodrum, but there is much richer choice of styles, colors, sizes – you can be sure that you will find the right and pleasing to the eye. We were pleased, for example, a large center of leather products. We chose it on the recommendation of local residents. They say it’s good quality. Sellers willingly brought down the price. In the hotel, if you allow finances, I advise you to immediately order 3-5 massages, including Thai, just make sure that it is made by real little secretly. It’s not cheap, but it’s worth it. In addition, for 3-5 massages, you can safely demand a discount and generally refer that the price is designed for the Germans. We’re not Germans, are we? From Antalya, this time we decided to go to Pamukkale, to the famous pool, which, according to legend, rejuvenated Cleopatra. However, on the spot it turned out that Cleopatra’s stay here is not proven, this is one of the versions, and the excursion object itself is modestly called the “Antique pool”, but still nice. It as if told that here I swam, for example, Yulia Tymoshenko or, at worst, Sofia Rotaru. We must leave early. On the way, the guides necessarily offer several points for shopping. I would not go to the onyx factory, stone vases are an Amateur. But the carpet factory need to call, even if you do not have plans to buy a carpet. It is interesting to see how the silkworm pull a white, still unpainted thread, it is interesting under the guidance of a local technologist to feel and understand the difference between different types of carpets, look at the Germans, who carefully leaf through catalogs, and just wander through the three floors of the exhibition, where it is easy to get lost in the carpet abundance. Pamukkale can be seen from afar – this place stands out with a white spot of salt pools on a green mountain background. There was a big old town here – you can see it on the diagram at the entrance. The healing pool came to be treated from all over the Roman Empire – it really helped. And it still helps. However, the environment under the pressure of tourists every year deteriorates and sources gradually dry up. UNESCO took under protection this object and in some places don’t let any more. The more important it was to see clean blue water, containing, as they say, the entire periodic table, and even in such a concentration that it is not recommended to sit in the pool for a long time. Our guide jokes: if you stay too long in the pool, you will be very rejuvenated and you will not be released from the country, because you will not look like your photo on your passport. Arrived elderly Germans do not risk swimming, walking around the pool in jackets, although they would not hurt to lose here 5-6 years. Well, “our”, in the sense of Russian-speaking groups, quickly undress, climb into the warm thermal water and rejoice like children. On the way back, we stopped at tasting houses, where we tasted weak refreshing local wines made of BlackBerry, mulberry, pomegranate and other exotic raw materials. The taste of the wine is pleasant, treat them without saving, so that the continuation of the road after tasting is more fun. Well, from Kemer it makes sense to go on a tour of the famous World of Lycia. It is only an hour and a half drive, although the road meanders along the sea. Here, in the town of Peace, preserved the Church, where in the IV century ad 25 years preached and served Bishop Nicholas, who became the prototype of Santa Claus. The night before our arrival, it rained heavily. We walked around the Church below the level of today’s cultural layer, jumping through puddles, and envied the rubber boots of the local staff. St. Nicholas was buried here, and the Church almost immediately became a place of pilgrimage. And at the beginning of the XI century, around the same time, when Yaroslav the Wise was completing Kiev, the relics of the Saint were the most bandit way stolen from the Church by Italian merchants and transported to the city of Bari. They say that now Bari is the most famous place of pilgrimage, and the Turks demand to return the relics back. Next to the Church of St. Nicholas there is another place of world fame – the fascinating rock burial of the ancient Lycians. The Lycians – the people of the sea – buried their dead by hollowing out a hole high in the rocks and creating porticos with bas-reliefs and carvings in the manner of Greek temples around the deepening. Standing at the bottom with his head up, can be a very long time to consider this hanging in the sky cemetery. It seemed to the Lycians that the higher a person was buried, the easier it would be for him to get to heaven… But even if you do not go anywhere, but just go for a walk on the territory of the hotel, the highest mountain here – Tahtali – will accompany you everywhere. Sometimes it is covered by clouds, but in clear weather it is visible as it shines elegant snow. They say that in the summer the snow is falling, but now this snow cap is a worthy sight. By the way, in April-may here you can admire the storm over the sea – in the summer of such entertainment Turkey will not offer you.
